The sun is shining and the weather is warming up, but your pool isn’t open yet. If you’re dreading getting your pool prepped for the summer, follow these simple guidelines on how to prepare your pool for summer.
A Clean Pool is a Healthy Pool
- If you take the cover off of your pool and the water is green, you can imagine how unhealthy that can be for potential swimmers. It can also be unhealthy for the pool as algae and bacteria may rapidly grow if the water is left untreated.
- After you take the cover off, begin by making sure the water level is high enough to reach the filter. Once the water is high enough, you can begin cleaning the filter. You may have to clean it every day for a week until the filter remains mostly clean.
- Adding the proper chemicals can bring your pool from a dark shade of green to a clean and pristine sparkle. By using the correct chemicals to balance your pool’s pH levels, you can effectively kill any potentially harmful microorganisms floating in the water.
- To keep your pool clean before swimmers can enter, be sure to routinely vacuum any leaves from the bottom and skim off any undesirable floating things from the top.
